Former UFC Fighter Charged with Gang Rape
Former UFC Fighter Charged with Gang RapeJoseph Hyungmin Son, more famously known to MMA fans as Joe Son, has been arrested in Orange County California for his involvement in an unsolved 1990 gang rape case. Son’s arrest was initially reported by pop culture website TMZ.com, and stated that Son is being held on $1 Million bail and is facing the maximum 275 years in prison if he is found convicted. Son may be remembered by the masses for his role as “Random Task” on the original Austin Powers movie.

Son got linked to this unsolved case because of a guilty plea that he made back in May to felony vandalism. As a requirement of the plea, he was forced to submit a DNA sample. As investigators ran his sample they found that Son’s DNA connected him to the unsolved gang rape 18 years ago.

At the time, the woman stated that she was pistol-whipped, raped, had her life threatened, and eventually blindfolded and released naked.

Son has been charged with five felony counts of rape, two felony counts of forcible sodomy, two felony counts of sodomy in concert by force, seven felony counts of forcible oral copulation, and one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object by force.

He fought in UFC 4, with his last professional bout coming for PrideFC in 2002. He retired with an astonishing 0-4 record, but was best known for his extravagant entrances to the ring.
