Team Hughes is very happy with the pick, saying that it's the fight that they wanted as well. They feel that Serra has greatly underestimated Dorian's striking ability.
Back at the gym, Matt Hughes has decided to do an optional Bible study and hands out a Bible to each of his fighters. He wants them to read a passage and tell him who, in the story, reminds his team of him as their coach.
Mac doesn't take very well to the and goes off on his own to lay down. Matt Hughes approaches him trying to encourage his fighter to read the story. Some of Team Serra hears about the "Bible study" and tell their coach about it. They make a few jokes and Serra starts to get worked up.
“God, I hate that c***sucker,” Serra says. “I can’t wait to fight him.“
Meanwhile, Joey continues to talk about leaving the show. He talks to the guys about how difficult it is for him to stay in the house after his loss and how much he misses his girlfriend. He begins fearing that she'll leave him or cheat on him if he doesn't go home.
Finally, while at practice Serra gets a call about Joey continually asking if he can call his girlfriend. Serra has enough, and blows up; telling his team to continue sparing while he goes home to "deal with a b*tch." He tells the guys he's going to the house to send Joey home, but he cools down by the time he gets there and the two work it out. Joey tells Serra that he won't ask to call his girlfriend again and that he wants to stay in the house and help Serra as a coach.
With that out of the way, it's fight time. Dorian Price of Team Hughes vs. Matt Arroyo of Team Serra.
As the fight begins, it becomes clear that Dorian has a significant hight and reach advantage. Dorian uses this advantage to land a couple of glancing shots before setting up a flying knee that hits Matt flush in the face. Matt seems dazed and takes Dorian to the ground where he dominates the Muy Thai fighter. Matt brutally pounds Dorian who panics and gives up his back. Matt, who is an accomplished bjj practitioner sinks in a rear-naked choke. Dorian taps and Team Serra pulls into a 1-1 tie with Team Hughes.
